Muting 5

Animated Muting 5 tab by ActionTab on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

This exercise is from the Core Skills section on Muting.

More practice at stopping dead. Like the last exercise, use both hands to mute if you can.

As you should be able to see from this exercise, dead stops can be used to make up punchy stabs and rhythms. Plenty of songs use this method and once you can do it, you should definitely try having fun using dead stops with your own musical ideas!

The basic chord sequence here is:

B5 - G5 - F#5

See how using dead stops makes these simple chords a lot more lively? Keep practicing and you'll find you can bring your guitar to a dead stop anytime - very useful for getting those interesting rhythms!
