Muting is a way of killing notes during play and has a wide array of uses in guitar music. You can use it to
stop unwanted notes, or as part of the music itself (typically rhythmic strumming in ska or funk music).
This technique is sometimes confused with palm muting, however it is a completely separate technique. It is
a fretboard hand technique applied to mute strings during play, whereas palm muting involves the
strumming hand.
Muting is one of the easiest techniques to do, which is good news because it's also very important to know!
In this section we will do some simple muting technique exercises, and then leap into the deep end with
some typical funk / ska muting techniques. Enjoy!
