Woman from Tokyo (Lead)

Animated Woman from Tokyo (Lead) tab by Deep Purple on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

The lead parts for this song are what we call Fills. They are scattered throughout the song. They are short phrases, and similar to each other. They don't melodically dominate like a typical lead solo would to take charge of the main melody. Instead, these fills sit quite low in the mix to add an expressive layer. A bit like backing vocals, but for guitar.

Part of the reason for this is that the guitar is interlaced with the organ. So both play off each other. However, there are some short solo guitar parts towards the end that are much more typical solo style guitar. All the lead licks are pretty catchy and fairly easy to learn. The fills use the E pentatonic minor scale, and the solo towards the end uses a C pentatonic minor scale. Just be prepared to do a lot of bends!
