Whole Lotta Love

Animated Whole Lotta Love tab by Led Zeppelin on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

This mega-popular riff is all about rhythm. Moving from the start of the riff (the B and D notes on frets 7 and 5) into the chord strikes (E powerchord) will take time to get right for newbies. Notice the picking directions of the strings - this will help you to get the rhythm correct.

When playing the E chord, simply use the muting technique inbetween chord strikes to get the funky rhythm. See our section on muting notes if you are uncertain about the string muting technique.

Note - The thumb is used to mute the Low E string. This isn't necessary, but makes it easier for most guitarists to strum across the chord without accidentally sounding out the Low E string. See our articles sections to learn more about correct hand postures and the alternative fretboard hand / Thumb muting techniques.
