Speed Tech 37

Animated Speed Tech 37 tab by ActionTab on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

This exercise is from the Core Skills section on developing Speed Techniques. As usual, check out the normal speed audio first.

Let's learn another short, fast lick. This is another legato lick (i.e. uses hammer / pull offs rather than picking each note). It's just a short, fast repetitive succession of 4 notes. You only need to pick between 2 strings, the rest is all down to the speed of the hammer / pull offs.

This lick uses the B natural minor scale (or D major scale). Except for the last note, which is added just for effect, to round off the lick.

When practicing, remember that the hammer / pull offs last only a short while. This means you don't have to be too heavy handed with them. When learning them at slower speeds, it is tempting to hammer hard. You don't need to overdo it, especially for shorter bursts - because the note will sound for only a short time. A light tap / pull off is plenty!
