Speed Tech 3

Animated Speed Tech 3 tab by ActionTab on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

This exercise is from the Core Skills section on developing Speed Techniques.

Now let's take the lick and keep shifting it up by 2 frets. This time starting at fret 5, and finishing a full octave higher at fret 17. Finish with a bend / vibrato just to round things off nicely.

This time cycle through the lick twice only before shifting up. By now you should be pretty tight with this lick and how to play it. However, this will still be a challenge. The main reason for that is down to the ever smaller fret sizes as you get higher up the neck. Exercises like this are great for helping you get used to the fretboard. Also, this exercise is a lot more fun to play once you get the hang of it. It sounds a little more musical and complex than its predecessors. This particular lick could be used in a solo quite easily, and sound fine.

Another problem presented in this exercise is keeping the timing tight. It's very easy to slow down and speed up as you progress through each position. Concentrate on keeping the timing right throughout the whole exercise. Keep practicing until you can do it consistently. If you have a metronome, use it!
