Speed Tech 22

Animated Speed Tech 22 tab by ActionTab on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

This exercise is from the Core Skills section on developing Speed Techniques. As usual, check out the normal speed audio first.

Now let's combine the original fast hammers exercise, and the last pull off exercise. We said it was best to use all downstrokes whilst ascending through the hammers. We also said it was best to use all upstrokes whilst descending through the pull offs. Here you will see why. You are effectively sweep picking through each string using this technique. This is a valuable skill and can help you shred up or down through scales and licks in no time, especially with legato techniques!

Notice that on the last string, the fingers remain in place to facilitate the transition from hammers to pull offs.

Just practice ascending with hammers and descending with pull offs as shown. Do this until you get a constant flow. Each note should last for the same amount of time. As usual, go as slow as you need at first, and build up speed only once you are consistent at slower speeds.
