Speed Tech 19

Animated Speed Tech 19 tab by ActionTab on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

This exercise is from the Core Skills section on developing Speed Techniques. As usual, check out the normal speed audio first.

I often use this exercise to warm up for lead guitar. It's good because it just uses 2 strings, but requires you to cycle up through the most common 3-finger patterns as you progress up the fretboard.

We're going back to picking between strings here, simply because the whole thing is based around just 2 strings. This means starting with an upstroke. As we mentioned previously, in such cases this is the more economical (therefore faster) method to play licks that constantly bounce between the 2 same strings. That said, you can just use downstrokes if you prefer. There is enough time afforded by the hammers to do it that way instead.

Here are the finger patterns:

1-3-4 ... 1-2-4 ... 1-3-4 (2 fret gaps) ... 1-3-4 ... 1-2-4
