Shiny Happy People (Rhythm)

Animated Shiny Happy People (Rhythm) tab by R.E.M. on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

Here we see the main Rhythm guitar for Shiny Happy People by REM. This is nearly all just standard chord progressions in a simple song format (outlined below):

Intro - The intro uses these chords:

G major - E minor - B minor - C major - A minor lick (or just strum the chord if it's too tricky) - G major - E minor - B minor - C major

Chorus - This first appears after the intro and uses these chords:

B major - E major - A sus2 (repeat)

The famous little lead guitar lick is played over this simple 3 chord chorus. We've removed it here to avoid distraction, but you can see how to play that in the lead Actiontab.

Verse - Uses these chords:

F# minor - E sus4 - F# minor - E sus4 - A major - E major (repeat)

Pre-Chorus - This is used to bridge between verse and choruses from this point on in the song:

G major riff - E major - E7 - then just go into the next 3-chord chorus sequence again.

Everything else in the song is just repeats of the above sections. Even the Interlude in the middle of the song is just a repeat of the intro chords again. The outro comes after this, and is just a constant repeat of the 3-chord chorus!
