Rock and Roll (Lead)

Animated Rock and Roll (Lead) tab by Led Zeppelin on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

The lead guitar in Rock and Roll is used by Jimmy Page to add some nice little fills, and perform the main solo in the song. We're just going to point out the fills and solo here, because the rest of the song is just the same as the rhythm guitar riffs, which you can learn here. The fills are easy, the solo is much harder...

Fill 1 - This is very simple little fill, played before the first verse of the song.

Fill 2 and Fill 3 - More of the same stuff.

Solo - Jimmy's main solo in the song is mostly based around the A - D - E pentatonic minor scales (because he's just following the A5 - D5 - E5 backing chords). He uses a lot off pull offs in this particular solo.

Fill 4 - Towards the end of the song this variation of the previous fills is played. Ends with this short boogie style lick.

End - Jimmy ends the song by hitting this C# diminished chord and then playing a short pentatonic lick.
