Pinch Harmonic Metal

Animated Pinch Harmonic Metal tab by ActionTab on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

This tune is from the Core Skills section on pinch harmonics.

Here is a faster metal riff using pinch harmonics, this time without bending the string. Pick across the D5 chord shape with fast dampened downstrokes between the root and octave D notes. Play the octave with a pinch harmonic. The rest of the riff just uses a little hammer etc. This sequence repeats until the end - dropping to the C5 and G5 chords.

Playing fast like this means more pick control is needed than in previous exercises. When adding pinch harmonics into a speed riff like this, you need to determine which notes you apply a pinch harmonic to and which ones you don't.

Practice the first part of the riff (the part with the pinch harmonics in) slowly at first to get the timing. Don't worry about the pinch harmonic until you can play that whole riff fast without it. Then start working on adding the pinch harmonic in.
