Pinch Harmonic E String

Animated Pinch Harmonic E String tab by ActionTab on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

This exercise is another pinch harmonic example from the Core Skills section. It's a very similar exercise to the previous one, but a little trickier to perform because of the higher string tension of the high E string. This produces a much higher squeal, but the thinner string and laws of physics conspire to make it harder to get that pinch harmonic!

Keep practicing and remember to locate that sweet spot. There will be usually more than one sweet spot along a string - once you can get one, try finding others to get more out of that squeel!

It may not seem like it now, but once you start getting the hang of pinch harmonics your fingers soon seem to just 'know' where to strike the strings to get them. Remember - if in doubt, picking just over the pickups is usually a good place to start.
