Jazz 2-5-1 Lydian 2

Animated Jazz 2-5-1 Lydian 2 tab by ActionTab on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

This exercise is from the Jamzone where we are looking at using the modes to add flavour to a basic 2-5-1 Chord progression in the Key of C major. Make sure you have read the article. Modes can be confusing at first, but are worth learning because they open the door to a wide variety of melodic opportunities.

The F Lydian mode is:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

Here we apply a repeating step pattern to both of the scale positions learned in the previous ActionTab.

Listen to the normal speed audio to get an idea of how this pattern should sound.

The pattern is: Play 5 notes from the scale, then repeat the last 3 notes. Move to the next note up in the scale, and then just repeat the pattern.

Just take your time with it and build it up slowly. Once you get a consistent flow, start speeding up.

If you feel brave, work out the descending pattern (just reverse this one), and play it out. It's good for you!
