Hold The Line

Animated Hold The Line tab by Toto on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

This late 70's hit launched Toto into the limelight. It's one of those songs that everybody seems to recognise. This is partly due to the unmistakable riffs used in the song. They are simple, classic rock riffs and very beginner friendly.

There are 2 main riffs to learn:

Intro / Chorus - A very short powerchord sequence with slides. This is the hook for the song, and shouldn't take you too long to learn. The riff is repeated and used for the intro and choruses.

Verse - This is a bit longer but still pretty simple stuff. There are no chords to play, just a pure 70's hard rock groove.

Both Riffs are pretty much the same throughout the entire song. They are great practice for beginners, and you'll end up knowing an entire song from just repeating them over.

The only divergence is during the solo. About a quarter of the way into the solo the rhythm guitar gets a little more active. It's really just the Chorus powerchord riff again, but with a little more strumming!
