Hammer On 7

Animated Hammer On 7 tab by ActionTab on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

This exercise is from the Core Skills section on Hammers.

Hammer Ons can be used when playing with chords. Here we play all the open strings and then hammer down the notes for the E minor chord. We then do the same thing for the A minor chord. After the intial hammers, the chords are strummed normally.

Notice how the hammers actually lead 'into' each chord very nicely. In fact some musicians hammer their way into chords like this nearly all the time. That's partly because it means there is more time between chord changes. The downside is that it involves playing the open strings a lot (inbetween most chord changes), but that suits a lot of songs just fine. If it works, it works!
