Bends 1

Animated Bends 1 tab by ActionTab on guitar. So easy you'll be playing in minutes.

This exercise is from the Core Skills section on string bends.

Here we begin with the most basic of bends. Simply bend a note first in an upwards direction, and then downwards. Just like in the video.

Play the note C with your 3rd finger (green dot in example). You may wish to place your index and 2nd fingers on the same string, behind the C note - you can use them to help support your 3rd finger in bending the string.

As soon as you play the note, bend the string upwards (towards the sky) with your 3rd finger (with support from fingers behind if you wish).

Note the direction of the bend is indicated by the arrow inside the dot!

For the second bend, do the same thing, but bend the string downwards (towards the floor) instead. This time the arrow will be pointing the other way.

It's that simple!

A Bend is always indicated by a dot with an up or down arrow in it. Do not confuse these with left and right arrows, which refer to sliding along the string! Also, LISTEN to the ActionTab to hear how far to bend the string.
