The song Auld Lang Syne is based on a poem by the famous Scottish poet Robbie Burns in the late 18th century. The words were put to the melody of a well known traditional folk tune, and now the song is sung across the world to ring in the New Year. A modern translation of the title is 'For old Times' Sake, or 'To the Good Old Days'.
